The First Catalogue

Arrived yesterday and it did not disappoint.  There are several entries of blog-fodder in it's pages.  Today I bring you three......

This is Chippy the Chattermunk.  Press his paw, record up to 30 seconds of dialogue and Chippy will repeat what you said.  Features two voice settings: "squeaky rodent" or "deep adult".  Hours of endless Christmas morning fun for the kids turning into hours af drunken adult fun after the kids are in bed and Chippy develops Tourette's syndrome.

Retail: $19.99 (WAS $24.99)

"Fun-filled" Outhouse SHAPED Puzzle.  Not cool enough as a print, you get the fun of assembling it first before it gets jettisoned to your bathroom at the lake house.  Finally a definitive answer to "does a bear shit in the woods?".  Why does the skunk look so pissed off?

Comes in either 750 standard pieces or 300 large pieces - if you need to get this on your wall asap.

Retail: $17.99 either way

Tired of plain Hot Wheels?  Try Grannies in Wheelchairs!!  Meh, who am I kidding!?!  These are awesome!!  The description says: kit includes Grandma Sue and Grandma Betty (or rename after your own Grandmas, and place bets) track comes with "two nail biting cross over sections".  4 "AA" batteries not included.

Retail: $29.99 and worth every freaking penny!!

While I'd hate to think of anyone parting with cash for any of this stuff (Grannies excluded, my birthday is next month) if anyone wants to know where this shit high quality merch comes from fire me an email and I'll provide you with the sources.

I'll take it as a sign.......

As I logged into Facebook to share my new blog link I am greeted by the following:

Now nothing against Mr. George Strait, I'm a huge fan myself, or Texans in general but really?

Strait up, having that last name lends itself to a lot of puns.

Please add $3 if you're a fat ass.

Hello and welcome.......

Some of you may remember a few years ago I started a blog whereby I would attempt to live my life, for one year, as per the Martha Stewart calendar found in the delicious Martha Stewart Living magazine and blog about my experiences being an ultra-organized, anal retentive Alpha Bitch.

I soon abandoned this endeavour as Being Martha is extremely time consuming, it is in fact a full-time job.  I already have a full-time job.  I also felt the blog itself was taking too much of a negative slant in terms of all the things I was supposed to do but couldn't.  I don't have chickens to gather eggs from, I don't have to visit "suppliers" for my household goods, I don't have a greenhouse, stables, potting shed, or corral to tend (unless Frontierville on Facebook counts) and, what disappointed me most of all, I do not have a monthly appearance on the Today show booked.  Too bad because I think it would be a lot of fun to fly to New York once a month and knock back the Chardonnay live on-air with Hoda and Kathie Lee.

The inspiration for this new blog actually came around this time last year.  Because this one time I ordered one thing from a mail order catalogue (A London Underground "Mind the Gap" front door mat) my name  is now on EVERY mail order company's database in Canada and what appears to be about 44 of the 50 US states.  As the spending season approaches my mailbox begins to overflow with glossy pages attempting to part me from my hard earned cash.

The logical thing to do would be to take the catalogues from the mailbox and transfer directly to the recycling bin.  Do I do that??  Hell no.

I actually look over everyone of them.  I began to notice that among the DVD box sets of ancient TV programs, personalized-with-your-child's-name storybooks, Snuggies (I own 2), I "heart" my __________ (insert dog breed here) t-shirts and Thomas Kinkade (shudder) jigsaw puzzles was some truly disturbing merchandise.

This blog will feature bizarre items I've found in catalogues and things I enjoy and find useful, Snuggies, as well as things I would like to see nuked off the planet forever, like Toddler and Tiara Moms.

Please feel free to read, follow, share, comment....thanks!
